TreeHouse International School is a learning community committed to educational excellence. Our mission and philosophy provides the framework that guides the principles of our Student Support Services.
At THIS we serve students with a range of abilities. Our curriculum and programs are developed to challenge all of our students and offer support when needed.
Special Teaching (ST)
Special Teaching is a program whereby teachers help individual students of all ages in areas of special interest or need. The support and encouragement provided fosters not only students’ learning, but also the development of their self-esteem and confidence.
ST teachers work with students on a one-to-one basis, devising with the teacher, coordinator, student and parents, to form an educational plan tailored to the student’s particular needs.
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
Our EAL program is designed to provide academic and social support for non-native speakers of English. The program’s primary purpose is to ensure that our students become proficient in English and achieve academic success. The EAL program helps students participate in mainstream classes to the best of their language proficiency.
Therefore, language skills and strategies are integrated with content area and subject matter whenever possible. The EAL program addresses individualized needs and learning styles through individual or small group instruction in scheduled classes, in-class support, and consultation with mainstream teachers.
